2011 Autism Family Services NJ Scholarship Winner
AFSNJ's first-ever scholarship winner is Andrew Swanson from Haddon Heights, NJ. Andrew is a Haddon Heights High School graduate. He will be attending Syracuse University in the Fall where he will continue his education in the Aerospace Engineering Program.
Andrew first acquired an interest in aerospace when his father brought him to the Kennedy Space Center. When he was 12 his father got him involved in the Civil Air Patrol, the official auxiliary of the US Air Force. Since then he has completed mission radio operator training in 2009. He attended CAP Air Force Space Command Familiarization Course in Colorado and successfully performed supervised solo flight in a glider.
He also received Leadership Award from the Camden County Board of Freeholders, "Best of the Class of 2010" from YALE School.
His parents said " It's been a long road for us and for Andrew. We're very proud of our son and his accomplishments. As parents, its gratifying to see that all our hard work with him paid off so well. Congratulations, Andrew!
